The JourneyUP Mentor Program (JUMP) provides young people ages 14 to 24 transitioning from foster care or facing homelessness with mentoring friendships, life skills, and connections to community resources and support. In 2017, JUMP served 566 at-risk youth.

At age 18, youth in foster care exit state custody. Many have nowhere to go and no one to turn to for help. Without supportive relationships, they struggle with homelessness, legal issues, medical emergencies, personal care, and poverty. In fact, there are more than 11,000 young people who are homeless along the Wasatch Front.

JUMP assists youth to develop life skills, accomplish goals, and find resources to become independent by providing access to adult mentors and basic services such as housing, employment, educational opportunities, medical, dental, and mental health services.

The JourneyUP Mentor Project is a program of The Christmas Box International, the Utah-based nonprofit serving children, teens, and young adults who have experienced abuse, neglect, or are facing homelessness. To learn more about The Christmas Box International's programs, click here.
